About the Artist
Vicki Jones-Pittman retired after spending thirty seven years sharing the joy of art with the students of the Sweetwater District in southern San Diego. She taught Art Studio, Art History, Advanced Placement Art and Computer Design, as well as beginning courses. In addition, Vicki was the Visual Arts Department Chair at the Chula Vista High School of the Creative and Performing Arts for eight years, as well as a district Mentor Teacher, curriculum writer and text selector. Vicki Jones-Pittman’s awards included Teacher of the Year from Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles as well as three of the Sweetwater District schools. She was also a presenter at numerous state and local art conferences and workshops' leader at the San Diego Museum of Art.
Currently, Vicki Jones-Pittman is creating paintings in watercolor and oil, and has taken classes / workshops with Jean Grasdorf, Glen Maxion, Wayne Hulgin, Robin St. Louis, Drew Bandish, and Stuart Burton. She has had art work accepted by jurors Charles Rouse, Nancy Oleksa, Linda Doll, Keiko Tanabe, Mark Smith, Rich Hawk and Frank Eber. Vicki has shown her work at the Chula Vista Art Guild, Saint Mark’s, Sophie’s Gallery, Main Street 5 Gallery, Balboa Park's Spanish Village, San Diego County Fair, The Studio Door Gallery, Art on 30th Gallery, the San Diego Watercolor Society, and currently has a solo artist exhibit of oil paintings at the North Park Library.
